Dr. Swank is a pioneer
in Computer Assisted and Minimally Invasive Hip and Knee Surgery.
He completed his fellowship training at the Anderson Orthopaedic Research Institute
in Alexandria, Virginia. He completed his Residency training in the Northwestern
University Department of Orthopaedics. He received his M.D. degree from Northwestern
University, and his undergraduate degree from Georgetown University. He is certified
in Orthopaedic Surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Dr. Swank is the President and Medical Director
of the Cincinnati Orthopaedic research Institute, the Medical Director of the
Joint Replacement Center at the Jewish hospital,
and volunteer Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopaedics at the University
of Cincinnati. U.C. Orthopedic residents train under Dr. Swank to learn his surgical
techniques in Computer Navigation and the most current Hip and Knee replacement
technology.
Dr. Swank is an active member, of many local, Regional, National and International
societies, including the Computer Assisted Orthopaedic Surgery (CAOS)
International, the American Academy of Hip and
Knee Surgeons, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Medical
Association, the Cincinnati Orthopaedic Society, the Scoliosis Research Society,
the North American Spine Society,
the Mid-American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the International Society for
Technology in Arthroplasty, the Clinical Orthopaedic Society, the Engh Society,
the Academy of Medicine in Cincinnati, the Ohio State Medical Association, and
the Ohio Orthopaedic Society.
Additionally, Dr. Swank is internationally renowned
as a guest Speaker at many meetings and Societies in both the US and around the
world. He has been featured in a number of Orthopaedic Surgery Journals, Magazines,
and News Broadcasts.
Under his direction, the Cincinnati Orthopaedic
Research Institute conducts an average of 10 Clinical Trials each year, evaluating
new medications, surgical techniques and implants to improve surgical patient
care. The results of his research have been published and presented to many Medical
Societies, and groups of peers. Dr. Swank is the author of Numerous Papers and
Chapters in Orthopaedic Publications.
